Based on McKinsey’s study, the global construction industry is an $8 trillion industry, and according to CEO Nader Elm, about $3 trillion of the industry amounts to waste and inefficiency. Elm notes that most construction waste is associated with wrong information. 3D laser scanning services could be the ultimate solution to reduce such waste.
Construction often goes wrong because many things are completed at the wrong time. For instance, a wall can be installed before the appropriate wiring is laid. The problem with information is that it passes slowly through the required channels, from subcontractors to contractors and supervisors. Drones expected to operate must continue working even in the midst of obstacles, such as losing GPS signals. If these drone challenges are mitigated, a lot of labor costs could be saved.

Before digital twin technology was introduced, if one wanted to know the status of a construction site, they had to visit in person, Williams noted. After that, several digital pictures had to be reviewed. Digital twin technology can streamline such processes to ensure more can be done in less time.
