NFTs and 3D laser scanning services: A breakout year

First NFT was created by the Ethereum team in 2017

What is an NFT? NFT stands for non-fungible token. They are unique, individualized tokens or coins that can be bought and sold. They represent ownership of real-world objects such as 3D models (created with 3d laser scanning services), land titles, artworks – really anything! As each NFT is unique (nonfungible) it’s like you’re buying a digital certificate of authenticity for that specific item. This is why they’re becoming so popular – because you can be sure that the ownership of an NFT is 100% legitimate and there’s no chance of any fraud.

History of NFTs

The first NFT was created by the Ethereum team in 2017 as a way of representing ownership of anything on the blockchain. It’s been called one of the most important technical contributions to blockchain since Satoshi Nakamoto invented Bitcoin itself back in 2009!

The 3D modeling industry has used 3D scan data for years now so it makes sense that eventually those 3D models would be put onto the blockchain and turned into NFTs. 3D modeling is a very tedious, time-consuming process that requires highly talented 3D artists to create 3D scans of real-world objects using 3D scanning services.

These 3D models are then stored in huge databases which can be bought online for use in your own projects. 3D laser scan data is incredibly valuable, and the 3D scanning services industry has grown rapidly since it first emerged.

NFTs in 2021

NFTs had a breakout year in 2021, and 3D scanning services played a big part in this. 3D objects are being created at an incredible rate because of 3D scanning technology – it’s easier than ever before to turn the real world into something that can be bought or sold on the blockchain. Because NFTs represent ownership of these 3D models, they’re becoming much more popular as 3D scanning services improve.

How do 3d laser scanning services work?

Scanning services use a variety of techniques to create 3D models from real-world objects. Some use lasers, some use cameras, and others use 3D printing technology. Generally,  the 3D scanning process starts with the object being placed on a turntable or in some other fixed position. The scanner then moves around the object taking measurements at set intervals. These measurements are used to create a 3D model of the object which can be stored and used online.

What does the future hold for NFTs and 3D scanning services?

3D scanning technologies are improving all the time, and this is only going to speed up NFT creation. As 3D objects become easier to create through scanning services, more people will want them because they can be turned into their very own non-fungible tokens! This means that there’s a huge market for 3D scanning services, and as the technology improves it’s only going to get bigger. 3D scanning is the future of NFTs!
