Pullin parts out of the past with 3D scanning services

The fact that VW does not produce this car anymore is a little bit of a problem for anyone looking for a needed part for the T1 Transporter. Where do you go to find parts for a car that the manufacturer is no longer producing any parts. The problem is easier that one might think. It is 3D laser scanning services. The car renovation team have two choices for making a new part with 3D scanning and 3D printing. First, they could find a genuine part that is not damaged and scan it. In most cases, if you have a good part then you don’t need to remake it. In this case, there were able to scan the damaged part. Using the digital model, they were then able to restore the part and then print it out using 3D printing technology. The 3D scanning services were done using a SMARTTECH 3D scanner

3D scanning is your simple ticket to ride

Using this high quality 3D scanning services device, the job was pretty simple. The parts that they scanned were sometimes needing a little doctoring first. They had to spray the surface objects if they were too reflective, in order to capture data from every angle. Since both top and bottom of some parts needed to be scanned, markers were placed on both sides so that stitching the scans together wouldn’t be a problem. Once the preparation was done, the 3D scanning was simple. The SMARTECH scan is saves a lot of effort by being self-calibrating. After all of the scanning is done, the point cloud is registered and a 3D digital model is created. From there the part can be modified, fixed, or printed out directly.

This is good news for all of you peace lovin’ hippy bug lovers out there who are looking to relive those days. 3D scanning services has the means to make that possible. If you aren’t really into the T1 Transporter, that’s okay. There are plenty of other cars out there that are waiting to be restored. Maybe you want a muscle car, like a 1969 Boss 429 Mustang. 3D scanning services is the technology to get you those wheels.
