Holiday CHeer with 3D printing and 3D scanning services

3D printing is serious business.  For those in the medical industry it’s helping people get a better fitted prosthetic. In law enforcement, it is helping with crime investigations, and in the courts it is helping juries decide cases.  In the manufacturing industry, it is being used to make all kinds of products better, cheaper and faster.  The military and educational institutions are using it.  It is serious business. All work and no play. But sometimes we need a break from all that.  We need a holiday. How about Thanksgiving?  In what ways can 3D printing and 3D scanning services be used for Thanksgiving.  Here are some ideas.

A Good variety

Thanksgiving, like most other holidays, comes with a lot of decoration.  Go into any grocery store or department store, and you will find that every department has at least something that is Thanksgiving themed during the season.  Go into Hobby Lobby and you will get lost in it. From napkins to flashlights to coffee to pillows, there will be at least one orange pumpkin themed thing for every item.  But why should you always have to choose what the store decides to sell you?  Maybe this years you can look to 3D scanning services and 3D printing services to make your holiday stuff.  For example, you could make some nice napkin holders. Since food is a big part of the Thanksgiving celebration, making some little pumpkin napkin holder might be a nice touch for the meal. Maybe you could make a few tree stump candle holders.  Candles always go well with a fancy dinner, and it would fun to see if anyone notices your 3D design skills.  The options plentiful.  You could do a vase, a fruit bowl, or even some coasters.

Don’t poison your self with 3D printing and 3D scanning

Thanksgiving is all about being thankful and eating food.  So if you are going to 3D scan some things to 3D print things that will come in contact with food, you had better make sure that it is safe material.  Filament material should definitely be FDA approved. If it is material like Bisphenol A, then you might want to be concerned.  You should make sure it is something safe like a ceramic material. Ceramic materials are not toxic, so they should be safe if you plan to dish some gooseberry pie onto your 3D printed item. Polyactic acids are also a keen choice if you are going to use it with food. It works well as long as you are not going to let it get too hot.  PolyEthylene Terephthalate is a material used for a lot of plastic containers, which is also a slick pick.

This Thanksgiving break, break out of the usual mold by putting 3D scanning services and 3D printing services to work by cranking out your own Thanksgiving stuff. It will at least give your families something to talk about. If things work out, you can start thinking about Christmas.  How cool would it be to be able to tell everyone that this years Christmas tree ornaments were all done on your 3D printer.  Or maybe the wreath on the front door could be designed and printed out by yourself.  There is a lot of things you can do to keep 3D scanning services and 3D printing services busy these holidays.
