Their 3D laser scanning services device of choice was a Leica Nova MS50 MultiStation. It was the right choice. It has the adaptability to a changing environment that was necessary for the job. On top of that it was fast an accurate, clocking in a 1000 points per second within 300 meter. That doesn’t mean it can do longer distances though. It can do up to 1000. If that isn’t enough, it allows live streaming, registration for the point cloud is automated, and it comes with an easy to read guide. There is a lot more that could be said about this scanner. The point is that they chose the right one to get the job done.

I can imagine that standing around the top of that mountain felt pretty cold, but I am sure that the feeling of accomplishment for scanning something so high up in those conditions made their hearts feel warm. Just goes to show that any line of work can be used to push limits, even 3D laser scanning services.
