Our client needed as-built drawings of the exhaust section portion of a power plant using 3D scanning in Alexandria, LA. The CAD model was needed to plan for scrubber installation at this plant. We approached the problem like any power plant, deploying our 3D scanners to capture an accurate point cloud. The scanning took 3 days.
We then used the point cloud as a reference to extract a 3D CAD model. This was done in two phases; an initial phase where we captured major duct, structures and piping, and a revision of this model to include additional detail in areas of interest.
