Do it yourself with 3D scanning services

DIY is the new thing. That stands for Do-It-Yourself. Maybe you don’t know that because you have been living the life of Rip Van Winkle. If you don’t know the Rip Van Winkle story then I am going to let you look it up by DIY. Anyways, DIY is a hipsters life, especially now that we have YouTube where any person can teach anyone about anything. All you need is a good idea and a hunger for “likes”. There is some crazy stuff out there, too. I saw a DIY solar powered hotdog heater. I saw a coffee table that had a built in pinball machine. On the more serious side there are DIY home projects that people can do. Replacing a toilet is not too difficult. Fixing up a lawn that has a lot of dead spots is another. There are all kinds of projects that people can do by themselves that were once only for the professionals. Now with 3D printing and 3D scanning services there are even more DIY things that people can do.

Do Everything yourself?

Some things should never become DIY projects. That is what I used to think. Now I am not so sure. I aways thought that DIY was pretty much restricted to things like bird houses, strawberry jam, and maybe a wood deck if you were a Jack-of-all-trades kind of guy. Now people seem to be doing everything, and big stores like Lowe’s seems to agree. In the past DIY large appliance repair seemed like a recipe for frustration, wasted time, and a bite of humble pie to have to call the professional that you aren’t. Now with 3D printing and 3D scanning services people are getting their own hands dirty.

Even DIY Appliance Parts using 3D scanning

If you have ever been to Lowe’s then you know what it means to spend the whole morning in a grown-up toy store. They’ve got everything you need for DIY. They have tools, appliances, indoor and outdoor stuff galore. They have a new DIY thing now that breaking formation from the norm. It is breaking a rule that was never really all that cool. In the past, appliance sellers did not want you to fix your own appliances, but now they are encouraging it with parts made using 3D printing and 3D scanning services. Print your own needed parts is basically what it comes down to. That is a step in a new direction but a necessary one in this tech savvy world we live in now.

Find a Station

The way it works is by installing a 3D printing station at a specific location on the store.  As the customer goes around taking care of other business, like checking out a Pit Boss Pellet Grill or a Husqvarna String Trimmer, his needs parts can be made on the 3D printer. Of course if you don’t have any shopping to do you can come back later or take advantage of other option. The point is that you can get that part to fit it yourself.

So now you know what is happing in the world of DIY. If you are to lazy to do it yourself then I suggest that you call the repairman or go find a place to sleep like Rip Van Winkle. Otherwise, 3D printing and 3D scanning services has got what you need.
