Applications of 3D Laser Scanning
3D Modeling – We can convert the laser scan to 3d CAD formats including AutoCAD and Solidworks
3D Design – We can utilize the scanning 3d data as a reference per your requirements to assist you in the design of new parts and facilities
Reverse engineering – We use 3d laser scanners to precisely measure your existing part or indoor/outdoor space and produce a digitized replica in the form of a 3D model in a format useful to you.
3D Printing – small objects such as those sculpted by hand can be scanned and electronically resized, allowing the same object to be printed at a smaller, larger or the same scale. An example would be scaling down a life-sized human statue into a 3′ figurine.
Planning – Laser scanning can increase the accuracy of planning facility augmentation by providing a reliable 3D model of existing conditions with which to plan against. It allows prototypes to be engineered to fit along side existing infrastructure.
Metrology – High definition laser scanners can make very precise measurements, useful for inspection of manufactured parts for quality control.
Interference/clash detection – New equipment designs can be compared with point-could generated as-build models to discover areas of potential conflict.
Fly-through and walk-through animations and video – 3D models extracted from point clouds can be used to create realistic video fly-throughs for many purposes including marketing and educational applications.
2D plans – Precise 2D diagrams and drawings can be generated from the laser scanned data, including 2D floorplans, DWG/DXF/SLDDRW files, orthophotos, site plans, sections, elevations, and profiles.
