Trolley Rail Spacing and Elevation Measurement Using 3D Scanning Near Dallas

3D scan dam shed

Our customer needed to replace a section of trolley rails on the Granbury dam southwest of Dallas. They needed to ensure that the new replacement rail was within spec (distance between the rails and flatness). They had used Arrival 3D in the past to scan an interior wall within another dam, so they decided to utilize our 3D scanning services for this project as well. Getting there is half the battle sometimes, as the scanning itself was rather quick. With a handful of scans, we captured the geometry of the 50 ft section of rail. From the point cloud we were able to give the customer elevations and rail spacing at every 5 ft mark.
