Good news From 3D scanning services
Every day one of the first things that I do when I get up is check what is happening on the news. Most of it is the same things happening all over of the world. Fighting in the Middle East is not a shocker. Some freakoid going bezerk streaking across the park for political causes would not be a surprise. Some new discovery about one of our favorite foods causing cancer is a bore. That doesn’t faze me. The biggest nothing veggie burger is always the “news” that life possibly was found on other planets. Still waiting…. What I find interesting, though, is when I see things that are really making a difference in the world. It’s cool to see innovative technologies put to good use to save lives and help people get better. One technology that is moving news crews to write eye-popping articles is 3D printing and 3D scanning services technology. One recent article that I saw was about a guy who who had cancer in the tongue. With the help of smart doctors and 3D printing and 3D scanning services, he was able remove it.
Apply 3D scanning to big problems
Cancer is a terrible disease that can be difficult to cure and cause patients a lot of pain. I can’t imagine what it would be like to go through it, especially if it were in a place like the tongue. There is a man who had tongue cancer. After getting treated, the cancer came back. This time it was much worse and the doctors decided that they would need to operate. Now to operate on the tongue means that the surgeons would have to remove a portion of it. That is not a very desirable thing. Therefore, the doctors would want to try to remove as little as possible as long as the cancer is removed. Fortunately, the doctors were skilled enough to get the job done. They did not just leave it to their skills only, but they applied 3D printing and 3D scanning services to do it right.
3D Scanning reduced the damage
Using MRI and 3D technology these doctors were able to create a model of the tongue with cancer. Using this model they were able to get a good look at the location of the cancer and learn best how to separate it from the tongue. The MRI technology was used to get the shape and dimensions of the cancer within the tongue. The 3D printer could then make a model. The model could include different colors to separate the cancer from the tongue. Giving themselves all the knowledge about how the cancer affecting the tongue gives them good preparation before they start cutting.
Thankfully the surgery was a success and the guy was able to get rid of the cancer without causing permanent damage to his tongue. Thanks to 3D printing and 3D scanning doctors are able to perform such surgeries with high success rate and cause less permanent damage to the body. This is why when I get up in the morning I like to look for stories like this.
