The project demanded scanning of the Granule System facility located in Waco, Texas. The realistic as-built model was created next through point cloud modeling procedures to assist maintenance and refurbishment operations. The project implemented the most recent scan of the BIM technology stack for achieving precise data collection and BIM model transition.
A Texas-based modification driveway manufacturer specializing in roof products and waterproof membranes for building slopes produced the modified bitumen and waterproofing membranes for low and steep roofs. The main priority of this facility was to develop precise facility documentation, which would enhance production and maintenance procedures.
The team chose specific points for proper laser scanning views that allowed access to the entire granule system area.
We implemented the Leica RTC360 as our 3D laser scanning tool to acquire both highly detailed scans and precise point cloud data in addition to HDR photography functions.
The processed scanned data underwent operations using Leica Cyclone software as a subsequent step.
Autodesk Revit received the point cloud input for constructing a detailed as-built 3D model.
The final model was received. STP file format to serve as a functional tool for renovation planning along with facilities management purposes.
Through implementing our 3D laser scanning method, we improved the accuracy levels of facility documentation. The integration of precise cloud data into BIM systems proves beneficial for developing sustainable operational plans with maintenance strategies.
