TURBINE 3D SCANNING IN HOUSTON, TX
For a customer in Houston, Texas area, we 3D scanned a turbine-driven compressor. The scan took 1 day in the field. The scan was conducted at the customer location and did not interfere with their normal operations of the plant. An accuracy of 1/8″ or better was achieved.
We exported DWG and DXF formats, and also converted it to SolidWorks format. A CAD model was extracted from the point cloud data containing medium level detail with piping, platforms and structural steel, flanges and basic representative geometry of the turbine and pump housings. While there was enough detail in the scan to model bolt patterns, the customer did not need them. 16 hours were spent extracting the CAD model.
