So apparently the robots are coming to take our jobs. Some day in the future we are all going to be in the unemployment line filling out papers and then turning them in to a robot who works for the unemployment office. I am not against new technologies and all, but can’t we send the job hogging robots somewhere else? Like maybe to another planet? Well, guess what? That’s exactly what is going to happen. We will be sending pizza making bots to Mars. That’s right. NASA has put their interstellar explorations on hold for a bite to eat. The 3D printing and 3D scanning services technology is heading where man has gone many times before, the pizza shop.
The company is called BeeHex, and they are the masterminds to take to the masters of space travel, the masterpiece of all foods, pizza, on their travels to nearby planets. To do this they are making pizza robot that uses 3D printing and 3D scanning services technology to do it. Talk about pie in the sky! This pizza producing product is not just “one size fits all” deal. It can take you order, if you know what I mean. Want olives? Coming right up. A personalized pizza it can do. All you have to do is pop it in the cooker and in a few minutes you are ready to eat. Will it taste like Little Caesars? That has yet to be known, and a good guess is not even close.
When you were on Mars, though, beggars can’t be choosers. There are not a lot of options for pizza restaurants. Have you ever lived in another country where you were unable to enjoy a good pizza? Well imagine living on Mars having to eat dried ice cream and spaghetti out of a tube. In such case there might possibly arise a craving for a pizza. This is exactly why BeeHex were given more than $100,000 from NASA to build a 3D pizza printing machine and in 2016 they got busy with it, and ended up getting over 1 million dollars for the project. Sounds like there are a lot of pizza serious people out there who want a piece of the pie.
While all of this sounds great and dandy to a lot of us with extra sauce, there are some who think it is a big waste of money. They say that if you can’t take the heat, get out of the pizza kitchen. No pizza in space should be the make it or break it factor for an astronaut. If taste buds are going be a problem, the you might want to apply to Disneyland and just work at Space Mountain. If pizza in space is going to cost over a million dollars, we might want to reconsider all this, because once you’ve had your pizza craving fixed, then some guy is going to start wanting tacos. Do we really need a 3D robotic taco machine?…Actually that would be awesome.
When it comes to pizza, I am all for it. If people are investing in making robots to make pizza, I am happy. Bring on the bots with extra cheese! They can have the pizza job. So hats off to 3D printing and 3D scanning services and those at BeeHex for serving it up.
