Avatar Cloud Engine (ACE) is the tool that Nvidia hopes will successfully bring enhanced interactions between human beings and computers in the metaverse through 3D scanning services.
Nvidia is known for its artificial intelligence technology, which opened the door for natural language to be understood and read by computers.
Making advanced avatars ‘feels’ like a step in the next direction for computer interaction. This could have immense benefits in the 3D realm, as having a human-like face could make it easier for us to tour apartments, manage investments and even learn how to knit.

Nvidia’s vice president, Rev, Lebaredian, felt these robots were essential for creating virtual worlds. These ‘robots’ are being tested, a stage that will make it almost impossible for humans to know whether they are talking to a bot or a human.

For instance, in what is now known as the ‘uncanny valley,’ there are fears that this technology could make us uneasy, as it leaves us puzzled about what is real and what is not. The human brain has been cultured for the real thing, not simulations.
The issue that pops up involves the meta-universe living up to the hype. Nvidia is of the opinion that the metaverse will be a 3D replacement of the internet as we see it. However, studies have shown that in America, only 23% of adults know the metaverse.
With that said, avatar technology could prove vital to how humans present themselves online thanks to enhanced 3D scanning services. Think of Zoom videoconference calls with 3D versions of people seated around a room or a virtual conference table.
Even in less serious scenarios, such 3D laser scans could prove vital. For instance, computers can scan our faces and apply the very same expressions to our online profiles.
Nvidia believes that these avatars will be robots aware of their surroundings and what’s going on and act accordingly. This is what Chief Executive Jensen Huang believes will make them rich and interactive agents in the 3D realm.
Nvidia has put a lot of faith in this technology. But if the metaverse gains traction, it would open a bigger market for 3D laser scanning services.
