3D Laser Scanning Ideas for Your Kid’s Birthday Party

Sorta Geeky

So what kind of geek has any interest in mixing 3D laser scanning services with a  birthday party? Apparently you do since you clicked on this link. Well, now that I have your attention, let’s get on with it.  So you have tried every trick in the book. Clowns, whoopee cushions, jelly bean jar guessing, magic tricks, all are “been there done that’s”. You need something new.  How about adding a little 3D laser scanning services to you kids birthday party? Here are a few last resort bring-out-the-kid-in-you I’m-just-a-geek my-kid-will-never-remember-it I’m-bored things you can do with 3D laser scanning at your kid’s next birthday party.

Something new

Whenever you do something fun at a kids party, it is always nice let them learn something useful instead of just throwing cake in each other’s faces and adding more soon to be abandoned toys to the pile. To give a little educational spice to your party, you can make it a culture lesson. They can learn a little about Mexican culture by making a 3D printed piñata.  Why do you need to use a 3D printer to make a piñata if you could just buy a piñata down at Walmart? The reason is because the store doesn’t sell anything cool like a Star Wars Death Star piñata. How many birthday piñata parties have you been to where you swung a light saber instead of a bat? None, if my guess is correct. As for the blindfold, no need. Just put a Darth Vader mask on the kids with tape over the eye holes. Do you see where I am going with this? There is a lot of creativity to be exercised with all this 3D technology. And it doesn’t matter if you enjoy it more than the kids.  Get out your 3D scanner and your 3D printer and get cracking.

Think like a kid

Once the Death Star has been made ready for Obe-Wan to do his thing, it is now time to work on the candy.  Candy is a necessity at any kids party. If fact, if you didn’t do anything but sit around and eat candy, those kids would be happy.  But you have higher standards than that, plus you didn’t buy all of that 3D laser scanning and 3D printing equipment for nothing. This is where you really have to think like a kid.  If you were a kid, what kind of sucker shape would make you run and show all of your friends? When I was little, we were all into G.I. Joe characters. If my parents used 3D laser scanning services to scan my “Joes”, made a candy mold with a 3D printer, and then used it to make suckers, I don’t think I would have eaten it.  If I did, it wouldn’t be until I had first taken it to school and showed it off to all my teachers and friends.

So there you have it.  These are just a couple ideas to consider.  I am sure there are tons of other things that you could do with 3D laser scanning services to make your kid’s birthday party a smash.  Knowing kids, though, a few balloons to stomp on and a water fight would do just as fine, and it would be a lot less work.
