Project Overview

Arrival 3D was asked to 3D scan for Revit conversion for a Wyoming monastery. The requirement was about developing an accurate 3D as-built for the development work in the pipeline.

Project challenge

The main project challenge was to capture intricate architectural details of the monastery with minimal or no disruption on site.

Producing a BIM model that can power the main development requirements ahead

Process & Execution

  • Comprehensive laser scanning: A complete laser scanning of the interior and exterior elements of the monastery with a non-disruptive approach.
  • Point cloud to Revit conversion: A high-precision point cloud data cluster was generated for a sophisticated conversion to a Revit model.
  • Project execution ahead: The Revit model was then put into roof structure design purposes and CNC-machined limestone exterior detailing through a CNC machine.

Results & Benefits

  • High-Accuracy Digital Model: An Autodesk Revit model ensured accurate dimensions and spatial references.
  • Design Readiness: The model went on to become a reliable base for engineering the roof structure and CNC limestone installation.
  • Efficient working and hence the result: Scanning was efficient, speedy, and non-intrusive, causing a proper work blend with the monastery’s peaceful surroundings.
