Star Wars Robotic Arm

A whole new world of making dreams come true

For years we have tried to improve our standard of living and have worked hard to do so. We are trying to help others live their best lives, and we are starting to adopt technology to do this. 3D laser scanning is one of the hottest topics in the technological world, and we are finding more ways to use this technology to improve individuals’ lives.

Open Bionics, a company founded in the United Kingdom in 2014, is dedicated to using its technology to create budget-friendly arms for people in need. In 2015 this fantastic company partnered with Disney to develop themed arms based on Disney movies. Over the last few years, this company has made kids’ dreams come true and has helped kids in need to feel invincible.

Open Bionics helped a young boy in the United States named Ethan Sappington. He lost his arm at 2 years old due to Sepsis. At the time, he was given a 5% survival rate from doctors. Though the doctors didn’t know if he would make it, Ethan is alive and stronger than ever. Thanks to Open Bionics, they have created a fantastic prosthetic arm that is Star Wars themed, specifically for this young man.

The company now offered other themes, like Frozen, the famous princess movie, and Marvel versions of this robotic arm. It has given many kids hope, and a fun way to express themselves. It gives them back the control they felt they had lost. This company has done incredible work with the help of 3D laser scanning machines.

About 3D laser scanning

This technology is some of the best on the market. However, it didn’t start that way. In the late 1960s, this was a new technology with a lot of kinks to be worked on. You could digitally preserve a copy, but you could not 3D print that information like you can now. It gained more adoption in the late 1990s, and to this day, newer versions are coming out to make extraordinary things happen.

3D laser scanning uses lasers to capture points on an object, they can measure how long it takes for the light to bounce back. It takes pictures at a rapid pace that collects all of the small little details we might miss with our eyes. This technology obtains things like size, dimensions, widths, heights, and much more. After the information is captured, it is then stored in the cloud. After that, it can be edited, designed, and printed for use.

The coolest thing about this technology is that it can be used for many different things in so many various fields. It can be printed, sent across the world, or developed into virtual reality. This allows all of the information that was gathered to be used and studied.

Others have adopted this technology

3D laser scanning has given many people a new outlook on life, and because we are finding more uses for it, this technology is becoming widely adopted. Students are using it as a study aid, thanks to all of the latest apps that have basic 3D laser scanning uses. Doctors are using it to take full-body scans of patients. Police are using this technology to help stop traffic accidents. Many more are using this in various ways; it truly is changing our views of the world.
