Description -A water treatment plant in the Dallas, Texas area, has a deep channel (essentially a 50 ft deep hole) in which a large pump was to be lowered down to the bottom. The problem was, that the pump that they planned to lower into the channel was very close in size to the hole itself. To make sure that the pump fits perfectly, the plant required an as-built model of the channel. Arrival 3D was commissioned to perform an accurate 3D laser scanning of the channel. Using LiDAR technology, our surveyors conducted a detailed 3D laser scan of the interiors and acquired dense point cloud data (PCD). This is then converted to a detailed as-built BIM model using Autodesk Revit. By using this as built model, the engineers were able to analyze clearances, identify obstructions, and confirm that the pump can be comfortably placed without any complications.
